Beginnings and Endings

The morning after Thanksgiving there was snow on the ground. Our first of the season! It was gorgeous.

I've recently finished my first quilt.



I mostly used pieces from my boxes, which means they have a history - if only they could talk.



I also put these four pieces on the back. For a first timer, I thought it turned out pretty good.



Early in the week I finished this baby blanket. It was the first time I'd pieced one, so I decided it didn't need fancy stiching. I like the blues and greens.

Thanksgiving

We did it! We made Thanksgiving dinner just for us. Mike had to work, of course, so we planned a small family celebration.



It was intended to be sweet and simple, yet somehow it seemed like I was pretty much cooking all day.



I told the kids that we were going to use the dishes that David's Mom had given to us. That neccessitated a trip to the basement and then they wanted to help. They were good at it too.

We made Turkey, rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and three kinds of pie. I made my green jello salad and forgot to put it on the table. Nobody besides me will eat it anyway.

We ate by candle light, it was a lovely evening.

Walking

Walking through the forest alone is calming,

energizing, soul inspiring, and brings

me closer to my true self.

I got that blessing last Monday.

It was glorious!

Stuart is ONE

Stuart turned one last week. We had so much fun.



Goldie designed a snake for Stuart. Then she helped me make it.



Josiah said he wanted to give Stuart an elephant. I cut it out and Mike and Josiah painted it.



Mike and I decided to make him a bear claw pillow because we are going to make him a bear quilt in the future. When we opened presents there was a bear blanket from Grandma Allen. How awesome!



And we can't forget the cake. Here is the boy in his dino shirt with his dino cake.



And one more just for fun.



Finally, Stuart is learning to stand. He sometimes does it when we ask him as in this shot.

We love you Stuart. Keep growing, and get some sleep while your at it!

Treasures and Trash

Adventures have happened in October and this past week in November that I didn't write about. I got ready to go to Jonesborough with my mother.



I took this picture of my treasures to show everyone.



While in Jonesborough, my other treasure and I had fun playing with the camera.



And this is a treasure that my treasure of a husband made when he was in High School.



It's a pretty nifty art design that has weathered the years in interesting ways, but now it is trash. Good thing we decided to keep the kids huh!

Halloween Happenings

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Wild Things party at our local library. Stuart won a free ticket to see the movie. For Halloween we went.


This is what we thought of the movie...the book is better. Josiah is wearing his King of the Wild Things Crown. Goldie is ready for trick or treating.



After the movie we went next door to the mall to Trick or Treat.



Josiah was asleep when we left and we forgot his shoes so he wore socks trick or treating.



It was fun to see everyone dressed up.



Peter Pan, Tiger Lily, and The Lost Pumpkin Boy had a great Halloween! Hope yours was good too!

Is that what these are? We found them in the ground outside and they popped. Didn't seem to have anything in them, I figured they were eggs, but I'm not sure.
